How to Choose GPSR Compliance Software¶
GPSR platforms look similar on a feature table, so evaluate them against your actual selling model:
- Marketplace coverage. If you sell on Amazon, eBay, Zalando, or Bol.com, confirm the platform generates the specific data package each marketplace demands — an Amazon-only tool does nothing for your Zalando listings.
- Responsible Person workflow. The RP obligation is the part most sellers get wrong. Look for appointment documentation, a public-facing RP contact page, and renewal tracking, not just a free-text field.
- Incident readiness. GPSR requires you to report serious accidents to national authorities. A platform that only stores documents leaves you scrambling during an incident; one with logging, templates, and corrective-action tracking keeps the response structured.
- Multi-regulation scope. GPSR is rarely your only EU obligation. If the same product data feeds CE, REACH, and RoHS documentation too, you enter supplier data once instead of four times.
- Multi-language output. Safety information must reach consumers in local languages. Check that the platform publishes documentation in the languages you sell into.
Frequently Asked Questions¶
Does GPSR apply to products that already carry a CE mark?¶
Yes. GPSR applies to consumer products generally, including CE-marked products. CE marking covers specific conformity requirements; GPSR adds the Responsible Person, incident reporting, traceability, and safety-information obligations on top.
Can an online platform be my EU Responsible Person?¶
No. A marketplace does not act as your Responsible Person. The RP must be a distinct legal entity in the EU with a written mandate — typically the manufacturer, the importer, or an authorised representative. Software helps you document and publish that appointment; it cannot invent one for you.
